Get a look at those eyelashes…

Happy Friday all…

I hope you’ve all had a good week and for all of you lucky enough to have a long weekend… have a good one. I hope you have something fun planned. We have a couple of things we’re thinking of doing… I’ll fill you in next week.

I hope you give the cookies I posted here and here a go… I love choc chip cookies… they’re always a crowd pleaser. The one downside to all these cookies is my ever expanding waistline!! oh dear… I must remember… just because I cook them… doesn’t mean I have to eat them ALL!!!

I was playing with the camera on one of my walks with H during the week and captured the below. Get a look at those eyelashes!!! He gets them from his Daddy. Lucky little man…

Have a wonderful weekend… Jx

These cookies are delicious…

Via A Cup of Jo I discovered Monique’s (from Ambitious Kitchen) recipe for Nutella Stuffed Brown Butter and Sea Salt Choc Chip Cookie’s. They looked so good I had to give them a go…. and give them a go I did…

They are AMAZING!!! All the family loved them.

Give them a try… you won’t be disappointed… Jx

P.S I added white choc bits to mine…

Coastal Vignette…

I had a lot of fun putting together a coastal vignette in our living room on top of the new cupboard to compliment the seaweed prints…

I’m looking forward to changing it up now and then and finding the right lamp/s to add some ambience into this corner.

Looking for one thing… and finding another…

Have you ever found yourself looking for one particular thing and finding another?…

Allow me to elaborate…

We have found the right pieces of furniture for either side of the fireplace in our living room. They are not what I originally thought we were going for and I love them even more than what I had planned…

I had pictured commodes there but I knew I needed to be careful about them looking too delicate for the space. So I had envisaged a long search to find the right ones…

When we were in the Southern Highlands a few weeks ago we were having a look around and found these… well actually, N found them and pointed them out. They were the perfect measurement and I loved that they are a cupboard rather than a commode. All of a sudden it made sense this was the style of furniture we should had been thinking of all along…doh!

I was hesitant about how distressed they were at first and worried it could be too much but once I got home I knew they would compliment the mirror nicely and therefore balance each other. I was still a little nervous though because until I get things into the space I’m never completely sure it will work.

When they arrived I was VERY relieved to see they suited the space and I’m happy with how they look…

I am now on the hunt for some baskets to go on the bottom shelf for storage. It will help hide some of H’s toys on one side and provide handy storage for DVD’s on the other (under the TV).

Have you ever thought you were looking for a certain piece of furniture and ended up with another?

Palm Trees…

Since being in Fiji I have a new found appreciation for the Palm Tree. When I see them I think of warm, tropical climates and that brings a smile to my face.
Or maybe it’s spring and the warmer weather arriving…

Bucket List…Shakespeare in the Park, NYC

Veterans of the Public Theater’s Shakespeare in the Park: Mandy Patinkin, Jesse L. Martin, Blythe Danner, Lily Rabe, Jonathan Groff, Jerry Stiller, Anne Meara, Donna Murphy, Audra McDonald, James Earl Jones, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline, and Oliver Platt, photographed at the Delacorte Theater, in Central Park. I have been to NYC once, in early Spring. One day I really hope to go back there to see Central Park in all its glory. High on my bucket list is to bask in the Summer evening glow of Central Park whilst watching Shakespeare in the Park. I don’t relish the challenge to get tickets and the long lines but have no doubt it would be worth it…

The setting sounds magical and the opportunity to see some the world’s most talented actors perform some of the most inspired words ever written would be a wonderful experience…

That’s got to be high on the bucket list right?!…

Have you been before?
Is this on your bucket list?…

White Hyacinth…

I’ve never had Hyacinth’s in the house before but I will definitely be buying them again as I love them. I wanted something I could put into my little test tube vases. Hyacinth’s are perfect for this don’t you think?
I wanted to share them with you as they make me smile. To me, they look elegant, pretty and happy…
I hope you enjoy them…

Have you had Hyacinth’s in the house before? If so, how do you arrange them?
Have a great weekend everyone… Jx

Portugal…Lagos…Holiday Photos…

Two years ago we were in Portugal for the Wedding of a lovely couple. We were only there for 3 nights so it was a very quick trip. It was our first time to Portugal and we were sad we weren’t able to stay longer and have more of a look around. What we did see we loved. We stayed where the Wedding was…the stunning Le Meridien Penina Golf & Resort.

One of the local towns is Lagos. On our last day…with large headaches from the terrific wedding the day/night before…we ventured into Lagos for a look around. It was such a pretty town. We really wished we could have spent more time there and hope to go back one day.

Have you been to Portugal before? Any must sees if we are lucky enough to head back there one day?

Easy Chocolate Cake…

The week before last I baked a cake!… not exactly earth shattering but it’s a big deal for someone who had only ever really baked from a packet before.
I don’t know what has possessed me but I am enjoying baking and want to build my skills…
I was on the hunt for a really EASY recipe and it needed to match the ingredients I had here in my panty…or rather…lack of ingredients.
All of the recipes I was finding in my cookbooks required cooking chocolate and or baking powder…neither of which I had. This has since been rectified…
I needed something I could cook with flour (self raising or plain), sugar (caster, raw, white or brown), cocoa, butter, eggs, vanilla essence, milk…
I headed to the web and found this one…Easy Chocolate Cake Recipe
I gave it a go and it worked (Yay) and it tasted yummy (double Yay).

If you’re a novice like me, give it a go, you’ll be very pleased with yourself!..

Busy little Boy…

This photo may not do it for everyone but I quite like the blur in this shot.
Every time I look at it I smile at my little man so happy and busy.
Every day he’s getting quicker and quicker…practically running!
